Government announces appointment of President of the Law Reform Commission

The Government today appointed the Honourable Ms. Justice Mary Laffoy as President of the Law Reform Commission for a three year term. A retired Judge of the Supreme Court, she has also served as Chair of the Citizens’ Assembly.

The Law Reform Commission's role is to keep the law under review and to conduct research with a view to the reform of the law. This includes the development of law, its codification (including its simplification and modernisation) and the revision and consolidation of statute law.
