Jobs announcements round up

Over 20,000 new jobs were announced across the country in the first six months of 2016, with major announcements in Cavan, Meath, Dublin and Limerick, among others.

Among the companies announcing new jobs were: Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories which announced the creation of 175 jobs in Waterford; Lotusworks which plans to create 100 new jobs in County Sligo; Pharma company Chanelle Group will double its production capacity with 175 new positions; and Aspire announced plans to create 50 new roles in Cork over the next 18 months.

800 new jobs in Nua Healthcare in Munster

Nua Healthcare is a private care service provider for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The company announced plans to create 800 jobs over the next three years through the planned development of new residential and day care facilities. 300 of the positions are to be delivered in 2016.

1,000 new jobs at University of Limerick

University of Limerick is to create 1,000 new jobs over the next four years in a major expansion, part funded by the European Investment Bank. 700 of these jobs will be in construction and nearly 300 more will be created on the existing campus as well as at a new campus in Limerick city centre.

Irish Defence Forces announce recruitment drive for 1,450 now positions

Defence Forces plan to recruit 1,450 personnel over the next two years, with 600 this year and a further 850 inductees in 2017.

1,100 new jobs at Shire in County Meath

The biotechnology company is to create 400 new jobs over the next four years with an additional 700 jobs created during the construction phase of a new biologics manufacturing plant.

1,940 new jobs at Microsoft in Dublin

The computer giant has been given the go ahead to construct four new data centres supporting 1,800 construction jobs over the next 3 years, along with the creation of 140 permanent positions.

Manor Farm in County Cavan announced 600 new positions

The Irish chicken processor has announced an expansion of its facility in Shercock creating 600 new jobs over the next five years.

500 new jobs at Amazon in Dublin

The online retailer is to hire data centre technicians, software engineers and customer support staff, among others over the next two years at a number of Dublin facilities.

Siga Hydro, Roadbridge & Strabag Group announced plans to create 450 jobs in Tipperary

The proposed new €650m hydro-electric plant will create 400 construction jobs and 50 permanent positions in the area.
