Jimmy Deenihan TD Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht expressed his sympathy on learning of the death of Kevin B. Nowlan.
Minister Deenihan commented:
"Since being appointed Minister I met with Professor Nowlan on numerous occasions, most recently at the Museum Standards Programme for Ireland Accreditation ceremony. Professor Nowlan worked ardently for the preservation of our heritage. I always found his enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge, along with his archaeological expertise, hugely impressive.
"He also jointly edited a book on Daniel O'Connell and added greatly to the existing scholarship on O'Connell and the period in which he lived. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
