Deenihan launches sponsorship drive in aid of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland

Sunday, 6th July, 2014 Jimmy Deenihan, TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht this evening launched the drive to encourage corporate sponsorship for the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.

The mission of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland is to inspire young Irish musicians through the study of challenging and exciting repertoire under the guidance of music professionals, encouraging performance of the highest standard on national and international platforms.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Minister Deenihan said “The argument for private investment in the arts and culture is a compelling one. Philanthropy for arts and culture is underdeveloped in Ireland compared to other sectors. Today’s obvious constraints on the taxpayer mean that we have to look for innovative ways to address funding issues. I’d like to encourage NYOI and any potential donors or sponsors to co proceed with developing positive collaboration. These young people will become the musicians, doctors, lawyers, teachers and parents of the future. In nurturing them at this age, we are ensuring a brighter Ireland for the future.”
