Wexford Opera and IADT sign Memo of Understanding

Jimmy Deenihan TD Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht congratulated Wexford Festival Opera and the IADT for jointly signing a new Memorandum of Understanding between their organisations earlier today (Wednesday 6th February, 2013).

The Memorandum of Understanding provides for student internships during the annual Opera Festival in Wexford. These internships will enable students working in areas of — Make Up, Prosthetics and Wigs, Costume and Dressing, Stage Technician, Properties Lighting and sound Audio Visual to gain essential first-hand experience of Opera production.

Speaking at the signing Minister Deenihan said:

"This is an exciting new development for the students of the IADT and for the Wexford Festival Opera. Giving students the opportunity to gain hands on experience at one of Ireland's leading performance venues, and during the internationally renowned festival, will add to their learning considerably. I welcome the fact that these two organisations are now working closely together, a partnership which will benefit a new generation of skilled designers and craftspeople."
