Minister Ring congratulates Irish women's rugby team following historic Triple Crown win

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring this evening congratulated the Irish women's rugby team as they made history, winning the Triple Crown for the first time.  Following their win, the team are now on track for a maiden RBS 6 Nations title.

Speaking this evening, Minister Ring said:

I would like to warmly congratulate the Irish women's rugby team who have made history today in a richly deserved win to secure the Triple Crown against Scotland. It was a tight, hard-fought contest and a nail-biting encounter just a week after their historic defeat of England in Ashbourne. They deserve the title and stormed home in the closing stages.  Their win today is a wonderful endorsement of the standards that players, male and female can achieve on the world stage and I hope they enjoy and savour every minute of their victory. Congratulations too, are also due to their families, manager, coaches and supporters today and it's a win that will be enjoyed by everyone who enjoys Irish rugby.
