Speaking in advance of the World Actors Forum Minister Deenihan said:

"This promises to be a very lively and informative forum for discussion. The calibre of the guest attendees speak for themselves. The Irish Presidency of the European Union has focussed on stability, jobs and growth. The creative sectors make a real contribution to these objectives. This is the inaugural World Actors Forum. In the years ahead, I would like to see this initiative blossom into an annual event that is an important part of the acting calendar, giving actors a forum to highlight the creative and economic contribution they make whilst also discussing issues of concern."

The World Actors Forum is an initiative of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Gate Theatre, in partnership with the Arts Council, the Irish Film Board, and Fáilte Ireland.
