Minister Madigan congratulates Element Pictures on BAFTA wins
The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD, extends her heartfelt congratulations to Element Pictures on receiving several awards, including outstanding British film, at the 2019 British Academy Film Awards.
Congratulating the filmmakers Minister Madigan said: The recognition received by Element Pictures for their co-production The Favourite, both at home and abroad, is richly deserved. It is fantastic to see Irish talent capturing the attention of both the public and the film industry at an international level. Tonight’s award wins will further build on the Irish Film Industry success and boost our reputation internationally as a country rich in talent.
The Favourite was shot by Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan and was partly post-produced in Dublin. The film received a total of 12 nominations this year and won 7 awards at tonight’s British Academy Film Awards including Best Production Design and Best Original Screenplay.
