Taoiseach to Travel to Informal European Council

Taoiseach Enda Kenny travels to Brussels today to participate in an informal meeting of the European Council.

The European Council will consider two issues of great significance for Europe and for Ireland: the new Intergovernmental ‘Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union’ and the important question of growth and jobs.

It is hoped that agreement will be reached on the final text of the Intergovernmental Treaty which will be an important addition to efforts to bring stability to the Euro zone.

Leaders will also have a focussed discussion on immediate action to be taken in the specific areas of youth unemployment, the Single Market and SMEs.
