Statement of condolence by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, T.D., to President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, President of the Federal Government of Somalia

"I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horror caused by Saturday’s bomb blasts in Mogadishu where hundreds of innocent civilians have lost their lives, and many more have been seriously injured.

"I strongly condemn this attack which is the worst terror incident over the past 10 years of multiple atrocities in Somalia.

Ireland stands in solidarity with the people of Somalia following this horrendous incident. We will continue to support the Federal Government of Somalia in their efforts to deliver the Comprehensive Approach to Security and ensure a safe future for Somali citizens."
