HAYES ATTENDS KERRYGOLD 40TH ANNIVERSARY IN GERMANY

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Tom Hayes TD, today attended the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Kerrygold’s launch in Germany.

Organised by IDB Deutschland, a subsidiary of the Irish Dairy Board, the event in Dusseldorf fêted the success of the Kerrygold brand in Germany over the past forty years. “The success we are celebrating here today is a great example of the collaboration between Ireland and Germany” the Minister said. “Kerrygold is an iconic Irish brand that resonates with the German consumer.”

Germany is the largest butter market in the EU, and Kerrygold was launched there in 1973, the year Ireland joined the EEC. Minister Hayes added “the product has gone from strength to strength and Kerrygold is now the leading butter brand in Germany with 50% share of the branded market and 17% of the total butter market. Ireland’s sustainable grass-based production system gives Kerrygold its unique colour, taste and texture which is so popular with German consumers”.
