Mr Brendan Howlin TD, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform attends the UN Public Service Forum and Awards Ceremony in the Republic of Korea.

Mr Brendan Howlin TD, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform is participating in the UN Public Service Forum and Awards Ceremony in the Republic of Korea this week, where he will discuss Ireland’s ongoing Public Service Reform programme.

The theme of the 2014 UN Public Service Forum is ‘Innovating Governance for Sustainable Development and Well-being of the People’.

Minister Howlin welcomed the opportunity to participate in the Forum, saying: “there is enormous potential for us to share our experiences and innovations. While there are obviously different circumstances facing different countries and regions, there is much more that we have in common.”

Minister Howlin delivered a key note speech at this morning’s opening session, addressing Ireland’s Public Service Reform and Political Reform programmes, and the key role that they have played in our ongoing economic recovery. The Minister will also moderate the workshop Tackling Cross-Cutting issues through Collaboration among Agencies and Civil Society.

While in Seoul, Minister Howlin will also meet Senior Government Ministers.
