Minister Denis Naughten announces €8 million for innovative Energy Research Projects

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Denis Naughten T.D., is pleased to announce the allocation of €8 million in Government funding for 45 innovative and varied Energy Research Projects across Ireland.

The Energy Research Projects aim to develop solutions that will deliver cleaner energy in our homes, businesses and communities. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), is responsible for awarding and administering the fund to companies and research institutions nationwide.

Minister Denis Naughten said:

Research and innovation are central pillars of the Government’s National Energy and Climate Plan. I have secured increased levels of funding for investment in energy research but I am determined to see this fund grow significantly in the coming years. This type of government funding significantly helps businesses and research institutions in the energy sector in Ireland to conduct world class research that will create jobs, build capacity and support innovation in clean energy.  I want to congratulate the teams behind the successful projects and I am looking forward to seeing their findings in due course.
