Taoiseach Enda Kenny was today joined by Sonia Flynn, Managing Director, Facebook Ireland, to officially open Facebook’s new EMEA headquarters at Grand Canal Square, Dublin.

The Frank Gehry-designed building spans some 120,000 square feet and is based in the area that has become widely known as “Silicon Docks”.

Facebook currently employs some 500 people representing over 50 nationalities at its headquarters in Dublin and continues to recruit to support the millions of people who use Facebook every day in Europe.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said:

As the Government works to secure economic recovery, the continued commitment of Facebook to technology and talent here in Ireland is most welcome. The company was one of the first to locate in ‘Silicon Docks’ in 2009, an area which is today the heartbeat of the technology sector. I have no doubt Facebook will continue to prosper at its new headquarters.

Sonia Flynn, Managing Director, Facebook Ireland said:

This is an exciting day for our 500-strong team in Dublin, as we enter a new chapter at Grand Canal Square. We are proud to be here in Dublin, where we are able to find the talented people we need to enable Facebook to support the people who use it every day.
