Grant of up to €33,600 sanctioned to Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne for the post of Irish Language Co-ordinator in Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne for the schoolyear 2018/2019

Seán Kyne T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands announced today, 23 November 2018, that he has sanctioned a grant of up to €33,600 to Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne to enable the continued funding of the Irish Language Co-ordinator’s post in Phobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Co. Kerry.

 

The Minister said: “Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne has a great influence on the retention and development of the Irish language in the peninsula.  This is a practical measure which illustrates my Department’s commitment to the successful implementation of the Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish Language.”

 

The post of Language Co-ordinator in the Pobalscoil has been funded by the department since 2009 following the amalgamation of two post-primary schools, for the protection of and to provide support for the development of the Irish language in the new school.
