Grant of up to €3,830 approved by Minister of State Kyne for Comharchumann Thoraí, for the installation of emergency lights and fire alarms in the island Social Club

The Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne TD, has announced today, 13 December, that a grant of up to €3,830, or 80% of the overall cost, has been approved for Comharchumann Thoraí for the installation of emergency lighting and fire alarms in the Social Club.
Announcing this grant, the Minister of State said that he was happy to be able to approve this grant to the Comharchumann. “This facility is extremely important to the people of Tory as a central location for them to come together socially, as well as organising events there during the winter. Of course, the centre is also an important facility during the summer as well when visitors come to the island and when there are Irish language courses going on there. It is essential that there are safe and suitable facilities available for the island community.”
The grant has been approved under Area for Action 2: The Gaeltacht, as part of the Action Plan for the Irish language 2018-2022.
