Ireland and Japan take the first step for the establishment of formal aviation relations

This Record of Discussions is an agreed understanding of fundamentals concerning possible future negotiations for an air services agreement between Ireland and Japan

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has signed a Record of Discussions with the aeronautical authorities of Japan which serves as a positive first step in establishing formal aviation relations between our two countries. It is an indicator that lines of communication have been established and both countries are well positioned to begin formal negotiations, if required, for an agreement to allow airlines to begin regularly scheduled flights between Ireland and Japan.
