Minister Doyle Welcomes New Appointments to the Board Of Bord Na gCon

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Andrew Doyle TD, has announced a number of appointments to the Board of Bord na gCon.

 

Minister Creed and Minister Donohoe have approved the appointment of two new Directors, Mr  Gary Brown and Mr Wayne McCarthy together with the re-appointment of Mr Pat Creed.

 

Welcoming the appointments, Minister Doyle, said “The appointment of these individuals will ensure the smooth running and appropriate level of oversight in Bord na gCon in the immediate term. The individual skill-sets they possess will bring a wealth of professional experience to the industry, combining new blood with experience and helping to steer this organisation on a steady and viable course. I wish them every success in their mission to promote a sustainable greyhound racing and breeding industry, one that will expand employment and create the maximum contribution to the Irish economy, keeping a strong focus on integrity and animal welfare.”

 

Minister Doyle said the appointments were made following a competitive selection process run by the Public Appointments Service.

 

Minister Doyle added; “The coming years will see major challenges for Ireland, particularly in the context of Brexit and Bord na gCon will benefit from a board comprised of highly skilled individuals.” 

 

The appointments are as follows;

Mr Gary Brown is a new appointment to the Board. He is currently a Board member of JWT Folk, one of Ireland’s leading advertising agencies. He has considerable expertise in marketing and advertising.

Mr Wayne McCarthy is also a new appointment to the Board. He is in a senior management position at Permanent TSB and has considerable experience in the financial sector.

Mr Pat Creed is a re-appointment to the Board.  He has extensive risk management experience.
