Minister Humphreys announces further funding of €136,000 under the Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018

Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has today announced a further €136,000 in capital funding for 12 arts organisations across the country. This funding is being allocated as part of Stream 3 of the Department's Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018, under the Creative Ireland programme. This follows the Minister’s announcement earlier this year of over €10 million in funding to 122 arts organisations around the country as part of a major capital investment programme.

Speaking today, Minister Humphreys said:

"I am delighted to be in a position to fund a further 12 arts and culture organisations under the Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018. This brings the total amount invested so far to over €10.2m supporting 134 arts facilities across the country. The Scheme marks the most significant investment in arts and cultural centres in a decade. It targets investment at a range of different facilities including arts centres, theatres, galleries and museums, as well as artists’ studios and creative spaces.”

Minister Humphreys continued: "This investment is an important way of supporting the arts in the regions – a key principle behind the Creative Ireland programme. Crucially, it ensures that people right across the country can access quality cultural facilities. While the amounts involved for Stream 3 are relatively modest, the grants will in themselves make a huge difference to the individual organisations".
