Minister Madigan congratulates Irish Oscar nominees

The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD, has today extended her congratulations to Irish film-makers on their nominations for the 2019 Oscars.

The Favourite, co-produced by Irish film production company Element Pictures and shot by Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan, has been nominated in a number of categories including Best Film and Cinematography – as well as Best Director, Original Screenplay, Film Editing and actress and supporting actress categories.

Also among the nominees announced today are Louise Bagnall’s Late Afternoon (a production of Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon) for best animated short, and Vincent Lambe’s Detainment is nominated for best live-action short. 

The winners of the awards will be announced at Oscars on 24 February 2019.
