Minister Madigan expresses sympathy on passing of Bernard Loughlin, founding director of Tyrone Guthrie Centre

Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan today expressed her sympathy on the sudden passing of Bernard Loughlin. Mr Loughlin was a founding director of the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan and as recently as August this year, Minister Madigan visited the Centre to view new developments which had received funding from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

Speaking on hearing news of Mr. Loughlin’s passing, Minister Madigan said:

I was very saddened to hearing of Bernard’s untimely passing at his home in Spain over the weekend, and would like to offer my condolences to his wife Mary and their children. During his time at the Centre, Bernard oversaw significant developments to provide one of only three residential workplaces for artists dedicated to supporting and facilitating creativity in the arts.
