Minister Ross and Minister Griffin congratulate Irish Dressage Team on qualifying for Olympic Games

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross, TD, and the Minister with responsibility for Sport, Mr. Brendan Griffin, TD, today congratulated the Irish Dressage Team on qualifying for the Olympic Games for the first time ever.

Minister Ross said:

I would like to congratulate the Irish Dressage Team on their fantastic achievement in qualifying for the Olympic Games for the first time ever. The team of Heike Holstein, Anna Merveldt, Kate Dwyer and especially Judy Reynolds performed magnificently under enormous pressure in Rotterdam and now have an Olympic Games to look forward to next year. This will be a great boost to the sport in Ireland and I have no doubt that the team will do themselves and their country proud in Tokyo.

Minister Griffin said:

I am delighted to congratulate the Irish Dressage Team on their qualification for Tokyo after securing one of the qualification spots on offer at the European Championships in Rotterdam. It was a great achievement to qualify in such a strong field and I would like to wish the team the best of luck in their preparations for Tokyo.
