Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, welcomes announcement of two new routes from Shannon to the UK

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD, today welcomed the announcement earlier today that Ryanair will add two new routes from Shannon to the UK this summer.

“This is a further welcome boost for business and tourism in the West’ the Minister said. ‘As well as the two new routes to Liverpool and Bristol, both starting in May, Ryanair will increase the frequency on its Shannon/Manchester route from four to six days per week.”

The Minister added:

“This announcement is very timely as just last month I was very pleased to launch a brand new €1.8 million tourism initiative specifically to boost business from Britain in the shoulder seasons. The campaign will run in cities with direct flights to Ireland, reaching at least 10 million potential holidaymakers around Britain. It will highlight how easy it is to get from six important British gateways airports to the Wild Atlantic Way and into Northern Ireland.”
