Minster McEntee travels to Washington, D.C. to meet with US Congressional leaders & to address ‘Bridging the Atlantic Conference”
Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, will today travel to the United States for a series of engagements in Washington, D.C.
In Washington, the Minister will meet with several members of Congress from both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Engaging with both Democratic and Republican leaders, the visit will offer valuable opportunities to discuss priority issues, in particular Northern Ireland, Brexit, immigration and transatlantic relations.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Minister McEntee said,
The United States and the European Union are each other’s greatest trading partners and close friends. The relationship is built on a long-standing foundation of economic partnership, security cooperation and shared values.
We are at a crucial time for transatlantic relations, when EU-US cooperation is all the more essential. I am confident that Ireland can play an important role in strengthening this cooperation and am looking forward to exploring opportunities to do so with our partners in the United States.
The Minister will also deliver a keynote address at the “Bridging the Atlantic Conference” hosted by Georgetown University and the UCD Clinton Institute.
She will also engage with business leaders at a roundtable discussion with the US Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Women in International Trade.
