Public consultation on Measures to Tackle the Gender Pay Gap

According to the most recent figures published by Eurostat, the gender pay gap in Ireland in 2014 was 13.9%, while the EU average was 16.7%. This means that, on average, women employees earned 13.9% less than male employees.

A public consultation on tackling the gender pay gap in Ireland was launched recently by Charles Flanagan TD, Minister for Justice and Equality and David Stanton TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for Equality, Immigration and Integration.

Members of the public, employers, trade unions, civil society and other interested organisations are invited to give their views on the factors creating the gender pay gap, actions that need to be taken, and whether they can contribute to implementing those actions.

Contributions are welcomed by email or written submission before the closing date, which is 4 October 2017.

The consultation paper and details of how to make a submission are available from the Department of Justice and Equality at www.genderequality.ie
