Statement by Minister McGrath on the Interim Report of The Commission of Investigation (Certain matters relative to a disability service in the South East and related matters)

The Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath TD today welcomed the Interim Report of The Commission of Investigation (Certain matters relative to a disability service in the South East and related matters), which was established on 21 st March 2017.

Part 11 a) (i) of the terms of reference require that the Commission complete an interim report on the first phase no later than 6 months from the date of the commencement of its work on this phase. This interim report is a report to the Minister for Health on the overall progress of the Commission’s work to date.

The interim report was received in the Department of Health on Tuesday 14 November 2017.

Minister McGrath said, “Firstly, I want to thank Marjorie Farrelly SC and her team for submitting this Interim Report which I am currently examining. I wish to acknowledge the hard work which has gone into the investigation so far.

“I want to assure the Farrelly Commission of my continued support as they continue their work on this very sensitive matter. It is my intention to publish the report as soon as possible”, the Minister concluded.
