Statement by the Department of Justice and Equality re the Marian Hostel Accommodation Centre
Officials from the Department of Justice and Equality, the HSE, the Department of Education and Skills and the Education Support Service of TUSLA met today with Members of the Tullamore Municipal District and Senior Management from Offaly County Council regarding the new Marian Hostel Accommodation Centre.
The meeting was constructive and officials provided information on the State services and supports that will be put in place for the centre, and its residents.
Clarity was also provided regarding the Accommodation Centre. The centre comprises the old Marian hostel, which has been extensively renovated & upgraded, and three adjacent properties that were already under the ownership of Bridgestock Care for a number of years and will be used to accommodate families.
The Department would like to thank the Councillors and Council management for their positive engagement and for their commitment to welcome International Protection applicants to Tullamore.
Department officials will continue to work closely and in collaboration with the local community, including to establish a ‘Friends of the Centre Group’.
