The Voice of Small Business

The Minister for State for Small Business, Mr John Perry T.D. today (Wednesday) presented An Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny, T.D. with the Report of the Advisory Group for Small Business – "The Voice of Small Business – A Plan for Action".

The Taoiseach launched this Group in June and had asked Minister Perry for a report by end of year and to identify 5 Priority Actions from the Report on which immediate implementation can be commenced.

"The Voice of Small Business" will provide a valuable input into Minister Bruton’s Jobs Strategy by setting out the collective views of smallbusiness," said the Taoiseach.

The Taoiseach commended the work of the Group, under Minister Perry’s chairmanship, and thanked all of the members for their participation in the Group’s work to date.

The Minister for Small Business, John Perry said "There are very good, practical and pragmatic ideas which aim to address immediate barriers and to set the scene for growth and job creation. Small firms are regionally spread, they create employment locally, contribute to building a community, and enhance a location’s attractiveness as a place in which to live and do business."

An Inter-Departmental Liaison Group has also been established to pursue those recommendations of the Group which require cross-Government implementation. Minister Perry expressed his appreciation of the appointment by his Ministerial colleagues of representatives within their Departments who will act as advocates for the proposals of the Group.
