Minister Heydon addresses the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon T.D., joined ministerial colleagues from more than 70 countries on Saturday 20th January at the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference on the final day of the 16th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture during Berlin Green Week 2024.

Speaking on the official announcement issued by the Agriculture Ministers at the conclusion of the Conference, Minister Heydon said:

“Sustainable food production is the basis for the transformation of global food systems. Primary producers and society alike will benefit from a more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable food system. However, making our food systems fit for the future will require a combined approach globally. Ireland is a strong advocate for the transformation to sustainable food systems: nationally through our Food Vision 2030 strategy; at an EU level through CAP; and globally with international partners and multilateral organisations.

This Agriculture Ministers’ Conference has been an opportunity to emphasise the power of global food systems transformation in our common efforts for the delivery of Sustainable Development Goal 2 - Zero Hunger.”
