At its meeting today, the Government decided to nominate the Honourable Mrs. Justice Susan Denham for appointment by the President as Chief Justice on the completion of his seven year term of office by the serving Chief Justice, the Hon. Mr Justice John L. Murray.

The Government has taken the necessary steps to advise President McAleese to make the appointment in accordance with Constitutional procedures.
