Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley, T.D. announced today (8 July 2014) that his Department's contract with Aer Arann for the provision of air services to the Aran Islands under the Public Service Obligation has been extended by a year to 30 September 2015. The Minister has also extended the airstrip management contract by one year.

The Minister of State said: "I am pleased that my Department has been able to extend the air service contract for the Aran Islands by a year and that the same service provided under the current contract will be available under the new contract. In addition, it will give my Department an opportunity to assess the report on the review of the air service."
