Minister of State McGinley announces grant of €23,561 for football and hurling training scheme in Munster Gaeltacht areas

The Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., announced that he was approving an allocation of €23,561 for the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The grant is being approved in order to provide funding, until the end of the 2012/13 school year, for some of the running costs pertaining to a range of measures supervised by the Council which support the promotion of the Irish language by holding GAA sporting events in Gaeltacht schools in Munster.

Announcing the grant, the Minister of State said that he was very happy to be able to make this support available to the Munster Council. “Because of the excellent work which the Munster Council has carried out under this scheme for a number of years, it is being expanded to the Gaeltacht of An Rinn in 2013. This will be of great assistance in the normalisation of the Irish language as a vernacular amongst young people,” said the Minister of State.
