Taoiseach Leo Varadkar this morning welcomed the Captains of the teams participating in the Women’s Rugby World Cup to Government Buildings.

This is the 8th edition of the Women's Rugby World Cup and Ireland's first time as hosts. 

The Event will take place in the Dublin and Belfast and will be the largest women's international sport event to be held in Ireland this year. 

The first of the Women's Rugby World Cup pool games, which take place in Dublin on August 9, 13 and 17 will see reigning World champions England meet Spain, while hosts Ireland get their campaign underway against Australia. 

The tournament will feature 12 countries from across the globe - Ireland, England, New Zealand, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, USA, Wales, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
