Grant of up to €40,007 approved by Minister of State Kyne to Munster Council GAA for the Football and Hurling Training Scheme provided during the academic year 2018/2019

It was announced today, 17 December, by Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne, that a grant of up to €40,007 has been approved for Munster Council GAA to enable the provision of the Gaelic Football and Hurling Programme for the upcoming academic year 2018/2019, in schools in each of the Kerry, Cork and Waterford Gaeltacht areas.
“It is my pleasure to announce the approval of funding for three extra schools in this organisation based in South Kerry for the current academic year,’’ said Minister of State Kyne. ‘‘This supplies extra acquired and enriched language opportunities, provided through a sports programme in primary and secondary schools.”
This grant has been approved in accordance with provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme, under Action 2.20 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish language, launched in June 2018.
