Minister Harris welcomes OPW support of Light it up Blue for World Autism Awareness Day

Simon Harris, Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW) today (1 April 2016) is delighted to announce that OPW will be lighting some State buildings blue to mark World Autism Awareness day on 2 April 2016.
The United Nations General Assembly declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day, starting in 2008, as a meaningful way to highlight and celebrate diversity while promoting the rights and well-being of all those with learning differences.
Minister Harris stated “ I am delighted that my Office, the Office of Public Works, will be illuminating some of our prestigious buildings blue to mark World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April. This is the ninth year the United Nations has been marking this day and what better way is there to celebrate but by joining in this global awareness initiative and shining a light on our wonderful landmarks”.
The following buildings will be illuminated in blue on 2 April 2016:
Department of Education: Marlborough Street Complex, Dublin 1.
National Concert Hall (NCH), Dublin 2.
Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny.
Casino Marino, Dublin 3.
