Minister White nominates new Chairperson of An Post

Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources, Alex White, TD, today (Tuesday) obtained Government approval for the appointment of a new Chairperson for An Post. On the Minister's nomination, Mr Dermot Divilly will be appointed as Chairperson for a period of 5 years.

Minister White said "An Post is one of the most recognised and respected brands in Ireland, with a foothold in communities across the entire country. The company will benefit from Mr Divilly’s extensive senior-level management and financial experience, which will enable him to lead An Post as it meets the challenges of a changing communications landscape.”

Minister White said the appointment was made following a competitive selection process run on http://www.stateboards.ie/.

Background on Selection Process
Following a selection process which was undertaken in accordance with the "Guidelines for appointments to State Boards" which were published by the Government in November 2014, the Government has approved the appointment by Minister White of the Chairperson of An Post. The position of Chairperson was advertised on http://www.stateboards.ie/ in June 2015.


Dermot Divilly: Short Biography
Mr Divilly has a wide range of experience in a diverse range of industries and has operated at a Managing Director/Executive Chairman level for over 30 years. He has managed the Boards of a range of public and private companies, has experience in finance and business restructuring, and has experience in managing diverse stakeholder interests. He is currently the Chairperson of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.
