Minister Flanagan congratulates Gardaí following significant firearms seizure in Finglas

The Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD, has congratulated An Garda Síochána following a significant seizure of firearms in an operation in Finglas, Dublin today. Gardaí arrested two men and a woman and seized a quantity of firearms, ammunition and drugs.

 

The Minister said: “I congratulate An Garda Síochána for the significant seizure of firearms, ammunition and drugs made in Finglas this morning. The display makes for a truly shocking sight. Lethal weapons are intended to cause injury and take life. Those responsible must face the full rigours of the law.”

 

During the course of the search, Gardaí discovered one Machine Pistol, one Sub- Machine Gun, one .357 calibre Revolver, 300 Rounds of assorted 9mm and .357 ammunition, and 227 Rounds of 12 gauge Shotgun Cartridges. Gardaí also seized Cannabis to the street value of €29,500 and Cocaine to the street value of €97,300 (subject to analysis). A quantity of clothing with a value of €3,000 was also seized.
