Minister for Energy, Pat Rabbitte T.D., today signed into effect the Order which changes the name of Bord Gáis Eireann (BGÉ) to Ervia. Last December the Government approved a change of name for BGÉ and Bord Gais Networks to reflect the new mandate for the company. The name Ervia has been chosen by the company to reflect its role as the parent of two significant Irish infrastructure and services businesses.

This is in line with the provisions of the Gas Regulation Act 2013 and marks another important milestone towards the sale of Bord Gáis Energy (which is expected to be completed shortly) and the further restructuring of Ervia as a significant, State-owned utility company.
