Minister Bruton and IDA Ireland welcomes Liberty Mutual Insurance Group creation of 150 new Technology jobs
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD and IDA Ireland today (Thursday) welcomed the announcement by Liberty Mutual Insurance Group that it is to create 150 new jobs over the next 2 years in the company’s Blanchardstown, Dublin office.
The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation is supporting the investment through IDA Ireland. Minister Bruton met senior executives from the company as part of an IDA Ireland investment mission to the USA in autumn 2013.
The new jobs represent an expansion of the company’s IT operations, which currently employ over 350 people in Belfast. The 150 new jobs will bring the total Liberty Mutual Insurance Group workforce in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to more than 1,500 employees. The company’s IT operations in Belfast specialise in enterprise level software engineering support for Liberty Mutual Insurance Group worldwide. The expanded IT operations in Dublin will support the establishment of an IT Help Desk, a Security Operations Centre and a Software Engineering Unit.
Welcoming the announcement Minister Bruton said: "International financial services is a sector which we have targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and over recent months we have seen significant jobs growth in this area. Today's announcement that Liberty, a world-leading company in this area, is establishing a new global operation in Dublin with the creation of 150 technology jobs is a further boost for the sector and for the economy. Great credit is owed to IDA for their work on this project. I am determined that with hard work from Government we can see further announcements like this in the coming months,"
Commenting on the announcement Barry O’Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland said “Liberty Mutual Insurance Group is a globally recognised name and is a very welcome addition to Ireland’s International Financial Services sector. The company will grow its Irish team by adding highly skilled staff who will support the company’s workforce across the globe. In recent years, Ireland has become a hub for international insurance companies to establish global IT operations here."
