Dockland Business Awards Celebrate Local Achievements and Initiatives

The Docklands Business Awards will be presented tonight (Thursday 29TH November) by Minister for Small Business John Perry T.D. in recognition of the excellence, dedication and achievements of local Docklands businesses and service providers.

Speaking at the Awards, Minister for Small Business, John Perry T.D., said: “The dedication and perseverance of the business people running locally traded businesses and the positive contribution they make to the lives of the people living in the Docklands area should not be underestimated.

“Now more than ever, in these difficult times, we need to recognise the achievements of this local business community and the crucial work being done by the Docklands Business Forum in promoting job creation, economic development and local trade.

“We need associations like the Docklands Business Forum who have not only created a supportive enterprise environment to help local business flourish but also play a central role in society and local communities. They are to be commended for the commitment to making a real difference to the local community and the businesses within.

“Every one of these Businesses in the Dublin Docklands who are willing to take a risk is playing their part in getting Ireland back on track, contributing in a tangible way to the wellbeing of the local communities.”

Speaking before the event Chairman of the Docklands Business Forum Alan Robinson said “The Forum is delighted to have this opportunity, together with Minister Perry, to recognise, celebrate and reward local business for their commitment and contribution to this wonderful and unique space in Dublin”.

The Awards, which are an initiative of the Docklands Business Forum, will be presented across a range of industries, services and initiatives at a gathering of Forum members and local business representatives in the Gibson Hotel. The award categories include:

· Docklands Innovator of the Year

· Excellence in Professional Services

· Excellence in Hospitality

· Corporate Social Responsibility Award

· Public Service Provider and

· Business of the Year

Companies shortlisted include 02 Telefonica, UPC, the Maldron Hotel, Savills, Sunflower Recycling, The Dublin Port

In conclusion Mr Robinson said that these Awards celebrate what is good in business whether big or small and the contribution that it can make to the Docklands.
