Minister Costello welcomes positive export figures

Minister of State for Trade and Development, Mr. Joe Costello T.D.,  has welcomed Ireland’s latest merchandise trade figures, released by the CSO (Central Statistics Office).  He noted that preliminary figures for March 2012 indicate a seasonally adjusted increase in exports of 5% (€361 million) compared to February. The Minister also noted that Ireland’s trade surplus has remained strong, although it has reduced. The Minister said:

“There is no question but that growth in our exports has put Ireland on track for economic recovery. As uncertainty in the global economy persists, we must do everything we can to ensure that this growth continues. Along with the other members of the Export Trade Council, which is chaired by the Tánaiste, I look forward to continuing to support Ireland’s export sector and to promoting Irish goods and services overseas.”
