Minister Noonan wraps up successful visit to the USA

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan T.D. today completes his visit to the USA and his attendance at the AGM of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Speaking in Washington D.C. today, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan T.D. said:“I’ve had a very successful visit to New York and Washington D.C. On Tuesday I discussed Ireland’s ongoing economic progress with influential international media and held a briefing with investors in Ireland’s bonds.”“Since Thursday I’ve been representing Ireland at the annual spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank. It’s afforded me a great opportunity to gather information from all corners of the globe and to tell Ireland’s story on a global stage.”“I spoke with the Canadian Finance Minister and was able to listen to the Secretary of the Treasury of the USA, Steven Mnuchin on the new US administration's plans for tax and the economy. I met a number of others on the margins of meetings including Secretary General of the OECD, Angel Gurría, Chair of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem and the Minister of Finance of Brazil, Henrique Meirelles. I also took the opportunity to meet with Christine Lagarde in her capacity as Managing Director of the IMF.  ”
