Seán Sherlock T.D., Minister for Research and Innovation, today [Wednesday] welcomed the announcement by online games developer Red 5 Studios that it will establish its European Headquarters in Cork leading to the creation of 30 jobs high quality jobs for the region.

The Minister said: “Today’s announcement is further proof that Ireland is seen as a gateway to Europe by companies looking to expand their international operations.  One of the key goals of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is to further the growth of the digital games sector in Ireland and double employment from 2, 500 to 5,000 by 2014.

“This announcement reflects the Government’s commitment to getting our people back to work by increasing the number of multinationals based in Ireland and by expanding the operations of those already based here,” Minister Sherlock added.
