Taoiseach Enda Kenny yesterday opened the MacMunn Building, a new €17 million science facility at IT Sligo, Ballinode.

The new facility is named after Charles Alexander MacMunn, a scientist, born in Easky, County Sligo. His discovery of respiratory pigments throughout plant and animal tissues (The Cytochrome System) remains a cornerstone of medical science today.

The new state-of-the-art facility completes a €35 million redevelopment of the Institute’s campus over the last five years.
