Meeting held of subgroup of Advisory Group on planning for state examinations 2021

A meeting of the subgroup of the Advisory Group of stakeholders on planning for the state examinations 2021 was held online today, Wednesday 27 January.

The subgroup was formed to consider in greater depth issues identified by the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union in their recently published report on the 2021 State Examinations and return to school.  The subgroup includes representatives of students, parents, teachers, school leadership and management bodies, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) and the Department of Education.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD.

The discussion today included an exploration of further possible options for the examinations. Themes around alternatives and possible impact on the student experience were discussed.

The Minister expressed her deep appreciation to the members of the subgroup for their continuing advice, expertise and engagement in the efforts to plan for the examinations in 2021.

A further meeting of the subgroup is planned for Friday, 29 January.
