Minister Cannon congratulates Galway's 3,109 Junior Certificate Students

The Minister of State for Training and Skills, Ciarán Cannon T.D., has congratulated the Galway students who are receiving their Junior Certificate results today.

Last June, 1,515 female and 1,594 male students sat the exams in Galway.

Minister Cannon said: “The Junior Certificate is an important milestone; it is a young person’s first experience of the State examinations system.

“The Galway students receiving their results today should be proud of their achievements, and use the experience as a foundation as they move onto the next stage in their education.”

He continued: “As Minister for Training and Skills, I hope that Junior Cert students will continue to engage with our education system, to equip themselves with the skills and knowledge to fulfil their potential.”

This year, a total 58,798 students sat their Junior Cert across the country, an increase from 56,930 students in 2011.

The Minister concluded by thanking families and teachers for their support of the students, saying that they were an important factor in today’s results.
