Minister Quinn announces appointments to the board of the Léargas

The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D., today announced new appointments to the board of Léargas.

Léargas is a not-for-profit organisation that operates under the aegis of the Department of Education and Skills and the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs.

Léargas manages European, national and international exchange and cooperation programmes in education, training and youth and community work and has been managing such programmes for over 20 years.

The Government approved the following nominations to join the board of Léargas:

  • Michael McLoughlin, Director of Central Services, Youth WorkIreland(Chairman of Léargas)
  •  Mr. Hugh MacConville, Development Officer for Gaisce in the Northwest
  •  Mr. Stephen Goulding, Director of Adult Education in Kerry VEC
  •  Ms Fidelma Collins, Educational Welfare Officer, National Education Welfare Board
  •  Ms Gillian Boyle, Legal Graduate and Voluntary Youth Activist
  •  Ms. Gerardine Skelly, Senior Inspector, Department of Education and Skills
  •  Mr. Des O’Loughlin, Assistant Principal Officer, Department of Education & Skills
  •  Ms. Mary McLoughlin, Principal Officer, Department of Children and Youth Affairs
  •  Mr. Cormac Doran, Nominee of National Youth Council ofIreland

In accordance with Government policy, the vacancies on the board of Léargas were included in a public advertisement process which invited interested members of the public to put their names forward. The positions are unpaid.
