Department of Education & Skills and Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB welcome educational partnership with South Korea

The Department of Education and Skills is hosting a delegation from the Chungnam Office of Education, South Korea today. Department officials, led by Director Alan Wall, and officials from Dublin & Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board (ETB) will be presenting on the Irish Transition Year programme which is of particular interest to the Korean Education System.

Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB are creating a global educational partnership with the Chungnam Office of Education to provide them with expertise in developing a Transition Year for second level students in South Korea.

The South Korean Ministry are looking at bringing a more holistic aspect to their education in the form of a transition year which would benefit students socially and culturally and will include English as a Foreign Language, field trips and cultural experiences.

At the meeting, the delegates will formalise their new partnership and sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding.

It is hoped that this new venture will be successful for both learners and educators and will help to forge closer ties between our two cultures.
