Taoiseach Enda Kenny today briefed Dáil Éireann on the outcome of last week's EU Council meeting in Brussels.

The meeting focused on economic policy, also covering common security and defence, enlargement and foreign affairs.

The Taoiseach said:

Last week’s Council outcome was a good and positive one, both from an Irish and European perspective. It represents progress on a number of key issues that will guide our work as Presidency in the first half of next year.
