Tánaiste condemns bomb attack on the UN Headquarters in Nigeria

The Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore T.D., has expressed his utter condemnation and dismay at the bomb attack earlier today on the Headquarters of the United Nations in Nigeria in which at least 16 people were killed and many more injured.

The Tánaiste said:

I condemn unreservedly the bombing today of the UN Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. This was an attack on UN workers who, as the UN Secretary General has said, devote their lives to helping others. Our thoughts are with the victims of this horrific attack and I extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who have lost their lives.
